Dr. Shannon Flegle earned her DVM from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She practiced in Minnesota until December 2010 when she joined Murphy Animal Hospital. Dr. Flegle grew up on a dairy farm in central Minnesota and has always had an interest in veterinary medicine. She got her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Dr. Flegle realizes that there is a complex bond that exists between people and their pets. Understanding this bond helps people and their pets form a healthy relationship that meets not just the pets physical needs, but also meets the emotional needs of people and their pets. Dr. Flegle has particular interest in internal medicine, geriatric medicine and surgery. She will work hard to provide her clients with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Flegle enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, and their 3 dogs and 3 cats. She also enjoys playing volleyball, walking and flower gardening.


A general practitioner at Murphy Animal Hospital since January 2015, Dr. Mayabb wanted to be a veterinarian since she was seven years old. She mostly enjoys building relationships with clients and their pets and practicing preventative medicine throughout all stages of a pet’s life.

A St. Louis native, Dr. Mayabb grew up on The Hill. She attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis and received her bachelor’s degree in biology in 1995. She continued her veterinary education at the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine, earning her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 1999.

Internal medicine and dermatology are among her many professional interests. Dr. Mayabb is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater St. Louis Veterinary Medical Association.

After the heartbreaking loss of her beloved greyhound Ferris, Dr. Mayabb adopted Eli from Missouri’s Puppies for Parole Program. Her other pets include her cat Tessa and her Beta fish Clive.

Outside the hospital, she enjoys gardening, reading, watching St. Louis Blues hockey games, and spending time with her husband Brent.


Relief Surgeon
Dr. Holt was born and raised in Southern Illinois. He studied chemistry as an undergraduate and continued on to complete his DVM at the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1982. In 1993, Dr. Holt graduated from the second class of the AAHA Veterinary Management Institute at the Krannert School of Business, Purdue University.

He was the first veterinarian in the St. Louis area to purchase and use the Luxar (now Lumenis) Laser system in June of 1998. Since then, he has performed over seven thousand surgical procedures using the Lumenis Laser technology. Dr. Holt served as a past president of the St. Louis Metro East Veterinary Medical Assosciation and the Southern Illinois Veterinary Medical Association. In 2002, Dr. Holt underwent advanced surgical training in a partial surgical residency at the University of Georgia Colloe of Veterinary Medicine.

In 2005, Dr. Holt started Relief Surgical Services, a Midwest based traveling referral surgical practice that provides select veterinary hospitals with in-house advanced surgical procedures and treatments. Dr. Holt is certified in Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, Sliding Humeral Osteotomy, Helica Total Hip Prosthesis, and the Modified Maquet Procedure for Tibial Tuberosity Advancement.

Dr. Holt currently resides in Wentzville, Missouri with his wife, Stefanie, and his two children, Ashlyn and Austin.

Samantha joined Murphy Animal Hospital in 2013. Being our longest tenured technician, Sam has worked closely with Dr. Flegle to ensure our client’s receive the best possible care for their pets.

In her spare time, this avid Blues fan, enjoys riding her horse Jag, and spending time with her three dogs, Kaci, Captain and Lexi, and two cats Copper and Kitty. She loves being outdoors, reading, and spending time with her husband Phil.

Kristina joined Murphy Animal Hospital in 2015. She has worked in small animal practice since 2014. Among the many tasks Kristina performs here, she enjoys educating the clients about their pets the most.

Outside of the clinic, Kristina enjoys reading, watching Cardinals baseball, and spending time with her family as her father participates in dirt track racing. She shares her home with her two furry family members, Chance the pitbull and Maggie the yorkie.

Lily joined Murphy Animal Hospital in 2019. She has worked in small animal practice since 2017.

Lily, an avid NBA Lakers fan, shares her home with several pets, one of which is an orange and white cat named James after Lebron. She also cares for her black cat Bagheera (named after The Jungle Book character), Penny a shepherd mix, and Nattie a 10 year old Chow/Golden mix.

Away from Murphy Animal Hospital, Lily enjoys spending her time at the gym boxing and long boarding.

Stacie has worked in small and large animal practice since 2013. Stacie started at Murphy in April of 2015. She has two dogs, a Jack Russel Terrier mix named Belle, and an Australian Shepherd mix named Cap’n Diesel. She also has two cats named Porkchop and Meeko. Stacie has two Quarter Horse crosses named Boo and Rhett. Stacie’s hobbies include riding her horses, puzzles, back packing, and baking. She also loves curling up with a good book with her dogs by her side.

Kelly began her experience as a veterinary assistant in 2007, and began working at Murphy in 2015.
She has a shaded golden tabby Persian cat named Benjamin Cooper.

Kelly enjoys reading, being outdoors and riding ATV’s. She also likes fishing, gardening, and she even has a store on E-Bay.


Veterinary Assistant
Education: Thirty Five Years of Experience

Donna began working at Murphy Animal Hospital, with only her love of animals to back her up. She now assists in everyday surgeries, as well as taking care of the pets in the clinic. Donna also works in the kennel and takes care of pets that board with us. Her cosmetology training taught her to be a very sanitary person, so one of her main goals is to keep the clinic as clean as possible.

Donna has a sixteen year old black and white cat, and she also has a black Chihuahua.

In her pastime, Donna enjoys sewing, cooking, and gardening. She is a hairdresser of thirty five years, and she loves making the world beautiful.


Education: Webster University: Bachelor of Science – Biology

Holly began working for Murphy Animal Hospital in the kennels in 2013 before becoming one of the receptionists.

Prior to working at Murphy, Holly worked as a stablehand at William Woods University while she attended school.

Holly has an Australian Shepherd named Finnegan, a golden retreiver named Maddie, and a cat named Lyra.

She enjoys reading, writing, and photography in her spare time. She also loves hiking and watching Blues hockey. She shares her home with two dogs, an Australian Shepherd named Finnegan and a Golden Retriever named Maddie. She also has a gray and white cat named Lyra.


Education: AAS Animal Health Technology, Columbia St Community College, Columbia, TN

Patrice brings over 20 years of emergency and small animal practice experience to Murphy Animal Hospital. She plays an important role in helping our clients, new and established, feel welcome and ready for their appointment. Away from work, Patrice enjoys motorcycle riding with her husband, camping and spending time with her family, her three dogs Bandit, Tim, and Tootie, and close friends.


Education: University of Missouri – St. Louis, currently enrolled

Rachel has worked with dogs and cats since 2009, focusing in kennel care and management before becoming a front desk receptionist at Murphy in 2014.

Rachel has four pets of her own, two cats, a dog, and a horse. Both of her cats, Blackie and Patches, were rescues. She adopted Jaz, her Chihuahua, in 2013. Rachel has owned her horse, Bandit, since 2010.

When she isn’t studying or at work, Rachel’s biggest passion is horses. She spends time riding her horse as much as possible. She also enjoys anything outdoors, especially being at the lake.


Boarding/Daycare Manager

Before joining Murphy in December of 2014, Courtney worked as a kennel employee starting in 2007, and managed a kennel for over a year starting in 2013. She loves being able to work with dogs.

Courtney has a German Shepherd named Rebel. She grew up having shepherds, but Rebel is the first one she has owned herself. He is very outgoing and has a BIG personality!

She spends a lot of time with friends and with Rebel, but she also enjoys reading, watching movies, painting, and listening to music.

Dodge enjoys receiving pets from hospital visitors and staff, scheming ways to steal treats, napping on chairs, and sun bathing around the lobby.

Lucy came to us in August of 2014, and hobbled her way right into our hearts. She enjoys long walks through the grass, playing outside with her friends in daycare, and napping through the afternoon while everyone works in the hospital.
